Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant Lead is responsible for the competency and appropriateness of Medical Assistant services provided within assigned market.  They will ensure Medical Assistants perform high-quality, team-based patient care for both clinical and administrative functions.

  • Act as the subject matter expert and oversee Medical Assistant responsibilities and duties within the MA scope of practice in a market.
  • Oversight of onboarding, competency assessment, and ongoing training of all Medical Assistants in market.
  • Travel to assigned clinics as requested by supervisor or Medical Assistant Program Manager.
  • Serve as the trainer and educational resource to Medical Assistants including training new employees and coaching employees identified as needing additional training.
  • Provide oversight and final sign-off for new hire Medical Assistants.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and workflows within scope of practice and scope of responsibility.
  • When not actively engaged in coaching or training, assist other staff members with their duties in the spirit of teamwork to ensure effective and efficient clinic operations.
  • Seek opportunities for continuous improvement and collaborate with clinical and operational leadership on implementation of Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives.
  • Complete assigned peer chart audits and submit to clinical and operational supervisor.
  • Collaborate with supply chain team to ensure appropriate medication and supplies are available for clinic operations.
  • Oversee inventory is completed in each assigned clinic and information sent to supply chain team by requested date.
  • Assist with interviews of Medical Assistants, as requested.
  • Work in conjunction with Market Manager and Medical Assistant Program Manager on Medical Assistant feedback sessions and annual reviews.
  • Drive efficient patient flow; use eCW to update patient status throughout visit, promptly rooms patients, perform patient verification process, obtain and documents vital signs, take patient photos, and turn over patient rooms.
  • Proactively identify areas of risk.
  • Fill in as a Medical Assistant, on a temporary and limited basis, during critical staffing shortages.
  • Frequent travel within market; infrequent travel outside of market (out of state).

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a patient care setting.
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (AHA) or the ability to obtain within 60 days.
  • Completion of an associates in nursing or medical assisting program.
  • LPN, LVN (preferred) or CMA, RMA credentialed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with electronic medical records.
  • Familiar with medical terminology.
  • Dependable; able to meet reliable attendance and punctuality standards.
